Vacuum casting is a low-cost but reliable method that uses CNC or 3D printing to produce a small number of high-quality prototypes based on the master model, and then produces more products through vacuum coating.It is an ideal solution for forming parts in a short time.

Why would we choose vacuum casting to make our prototype?

Vacuum casting process which is using a master prototype to make a silicone mould, and then produce the reproduction via pouring the material into the silicone mould.

Vacuum casting is usually used for small batches production because the cost of the silicone mould is lower than the steel mould. Also, the production lead time of vacuum casting is shorter than other process, such as CNC machining and injection moulding.

Low cost and fast production, that’s why vacuum casting products with better market competitiveness.

Therefore, most people prefer using vacuum casting process to manufacture their low volume prototypes for checking the market when they develop a new product.

However, there is one imperfection of the vacuum casting technology is that it cannot produce the metal parts, just for the plastic parts. Such as TPU or other similar plastic material. But please take a notice, the vacuum casting is using the similar plastic, like ABS, not pure ABS, it is similar ABS, but it does not affect strength of the products.

In the end, vacuum casting process is a nice choice when we want to make some small batches production plastic prototypes.
