Injection Moulding
High-volume production moulding, for the same part made thousands or millions of times over.
Injection moulding forces molten polymer into a steel or aluminium mould under pressure, producing the same part thousands or millions of times over with tight repeatability. The tool is the main cost; once it exists the price per part falls sharply, which is why moulding only makes sense above a certain volume.
We build both prototype and production tools, and will tell you which one the volume actually justifies. For a few hundred parts, vacuum casting or rapid tooling is usually cheaper. Above roughly ten thousand, a hardened production tool pays for itself.
Common materials are ABS, polypropylene, polycarbonate, nylon, POM, PC/ABS and TPU, with glass-filled grades where stiffness matters. Tolerances are typically held to ±0.05 mm, varying with the material’s shrinkage rate and the geometry of the part.
